You will drive past Chloride City
One gold strike in 1905 produced three towns out of the same boom. Two of them you will spend time in. The third sat up on the ridge, and it had silver but no water, and that settled it.
It is still up there. From the road you cannot see the cabins — what you can see is the pale streak of mine tailings along the ridgeline, bright rock that carries for kilometers.
The scene below it has fifty people climbing a mountain that has an entire town on its crest which died of thirst. I am not going to have anybody point that out.
Seven stops on the road ahead
Every place in this book is real. Every two weeks you get one of them: what is actually there — the spring, the ruin, the numbers, the coordinates you can open in a map — and the decision the book puts in front of you when you arrive.
What that decision costs, you find out when you play. Seven letters, then silence until there is something to try. Subscribers get the playable opening first.
You'll get a confirmation email first — the list only stores addresses that confirm. One click to unsubscribe. See the privacy notice.
